No Rain, No Rainbows
In order to fully appreciate life's celebratory moments we must also experience life's pain. That pain is most often felt in the passing of a loved one.
We invite you to celebrate the life of our grandmother Telli Elizabeth Henderson-Johnson.
Grandma Johnson was a wonderful story teller.
We would like to share a favorite of her stories with you.
But be warned, this story is not for the faint of heart...
Once you have finished her story please come back and take a look at some of our favorite pictures.
And the Goblins Will Get YOU if You Don't Watch Out!
Little Orphan Annie came to our house to stay
to wash the cups and saucers, and brush the crumbs away.
To shew the chickens off the porch and
dust the hearth and sweep.
And, at night when all the work was done,
we'd sit around the kitchen fire and had the mostest fun!
We listed to the Witches Tales that Annie tells about
and the Goblins will get YOU if you don't watch out!
Now, once there was a little boy who never said his prayers.
Once, when he went to bed at night, a way upstairs,
His Momma heard him holler, and his Pappa heard him squall,
and when they turned his civers down, he wasn't there at all!
They searched him in the rafter room, the cubie hole and press.
The seeked him up the chimney wall, and everywhere, I guess.
but all they ever found was his pants and rags about.
And the Goblins will get YOU if you don't watch out!
Now, once there was a little girl who always laughed and grinned.
She made fun of Everyone, all her blood and kin.
Once when they had company and the old folks were there.
She socked them and she mocked them, and said she didn't care.
And as she kick her heels to turn and run and hide.
There was two big black things a standin by her side.
They snatched her up the chimney before she knew what it was about.
And the boblins will get YOU if you don't watch out!!
